Programme Overview
The projects promote and champion Our Mission (Making Known the gifts of adults with intellectual disabilities through mutually transforming relationships.) through engagement of core members in welcoming, sales and hospitality services thus allowing them to live a meaningful life.
Maranatha Welcome & Rescue Unit
- Welcoming and hospitality services to guests and people in need of rescue awaiting intervention by the relevant stakeholders
Gift Shop
- The gift shop displays and sells items made from the leather workshop and other Occupational Therapy Workshops.
- We also display and sell various products made by people with disability outside L’arche
Leather Workshop
Our workshop is dedicated to crafting high quality durable and stylish leather goods. We create unique products that blend tradition and mordern designs
Objectives & Focus Area
The 3 projects contribute to financial sustainability of the community through:
- Provision of hospitality services to guests.
- Offer persons with intellectual disabilities an opportunity to work thus adding up on the human resource - making known gifts of people with intellectual disabilities.
- Maranatha as a rescue unit welcomes people with various social needs on a temporary basis as they await their issues addressed by the relevant stakeholders
- Through display and selling of items from the workshops within L'arche Kenya and other people with disability in the community.
Achievements and Metrics
The projects have:
- provided a space for people with disabilities to work against the social norm.
- The projects have been contributing to the financial budgets of the community through the sale of products and services
- Maranatha has been rescuing vulnerable people awaiting their issues addressed by the relevant departments

- Production of various leather items for resale for sustainability of L’Arche projects
- Providing meaningful engagement of persons with disabilities
- Announcing the mission of L’Arche through the sale of merchandise.
